This volume of the 1880 Census gives the Enumerator District, page number, dwelling and family numbers all to make it easier to go back into the original if the researcher desires. The 1880 Federal Census is very important as this is the first of the census to state the relationship of each person living in the household to the head of that household. In this transcription you have the names of the heads of the household, their race, age, and birthplace of themselves, their parents and other comments. To get a full picture of the family, you will have to go into the microfilm edition to see all of those living in the household, etc. You use this as an index to that census.
