Northampton County, located on the Del-Mar peninsula was originally called Accowmake after an Indian name. In 1642 the name was changed to the English county of Northampton. This county was divided into two parish, all below Kings Creek to Smith Island was called Hungars and from Kings Creek to Nuswattock Creek was known as Nusattocks or Nassawattocks Parish. These Marriage Bonds give the name of the groom, bride and in many cases, the parents of the bride with the date of the bond.
