Patrick County, Virginia Death Register, 1853-1870

$25.00

Patrick County is located in the south central portion of the state and was created in 1791 from a part of Henry County. These records are part of the early attempts by the State of Virginia to collect the births and deaths of individuals. In the beginning, it was a volunteer program where someone came to the court house and reported the events. This means that not all deaths are given for the years recorded. Here you will find the name of the individual, age, cause of death, place of death, parents in some cases, owner of slaves when that applies, husband, wife, sex and informant. In every case, not all of the above will apply or even was given. This is still more than in most other states. The researcher will have to keep an open mind on these entries.
