Hickman County, Tennessee Guardian and Administrative Settlements, Volume D, 1847-1852

$30.00

Hickman County, located in west Middle Tennessee, was established in 1807 and named for Edwin Hickman, an explorer and surveyor who was killed by Indians on Defeated Creek in 1791. Robert Weakley, a legislator who had been a member of Hickman's surveying party suggested the name for this county. During much of the early period of the county, iron ore was the main source of income for the area and the furnaces that produce iron. This volume includes the records of the guardians and their administration of orphans as to the expenses incurred in behalf of those orphans and the estates of deceased persons.
