Sumner County is located in the upper portion of Middle Tennessee. In 1796 it was created from Davidson County and named for Jethro Sumner, an American Revolutionary War General. This church was established about 1798 when the county was created is now located on Long Hollow Pike about eleven miles west of Gallatin, the county seat of Sumner County. The minutes that are included in this volume give a great history of the church for the time period covered. These records include a membership listing, those who joined by various means as well as those born, married and died within the church.
