1836 Henderson County, Tennessee Civil Districts and Tax Lists

$6.50

Henderson County, located in west Tennessee was created on 7 November 1821 from the Western District which came into existence when the Chickasaw lands were acquired by Tennessee. The County was named for Col. James Henderson. The records of the 1836 Tax Listing with the 1836 description of each of the fifteen Civil Districts gives a great reference as to the location of various persons living in the area at the time. In these records the tax payer's name is given with the number of acres they owned, if any. Those without land are still taxed but on a different basis.
