Monroe County, located in the eastern portion of Missouri, was created on 6 January 1831 and named for President James Monroe, the fifth President of the United States. The area was settled primarily from middle Tennessee and Kentucky. Entries in this volume are taken from Marriage Record Books A and B, including marriage date, groom, and bride, as well as the names of the ministers and justices who officiated. The death register includes name, date of death, age, occupation, where born, and residence where known.
