Deed books typically contain records of land transactions, mortgages, bills of sale, slave manumissions, powers of attorney, and sometimes marriage contracts. Deed books should always be consulted when doing genealogical research. This publication contains entries from Middlesex County, Virginia Deeds, 1687-1750 and from miscellaneous records 1752-1831. This information was dated May 18, 1933 and signed by H.R. McIlhaniny, State Librarian. The remaining Deeds in this book are from Middlesex County Deed Book 1736-1739, Reel 4, Virginia State Library. We have attempted to put them in order by date. Some Wills are included, with a few from King and Queen County. Another Volume of the Record Book abstracts will complete that information contained on the same Reel 2.
