Adair County, located in the northeastern portion of Missouri was created 29 January 1841 and named for John Adair, a Governor of Kentucky. The earliest settlement was called "Cabins of White Folks" or simply "The Cabins". After struggles with the Native Americans in the area, the county settled down to their existence.
A brief history of the county is given as well as biographical sketches of many of the early families. These family sketches were submitted by the families themselves, therefore, they are more accurate than other sources.
