This volume is an alphabetical collection of 3,041 Civil War soldiers from Nodaway County, Missouri that served in that particular war. At the time of the outbreak of the conflict, 1,479 of these soldiers lived in the county. After the war, another 1,552 came to live there. There were 1,310 of these in the Union Army and the rest in the Confederate Army. Thus you can see that the county was deeply divided. Of these men 86 never returned home, but lay on the battle field or at the hands of bushwhacking and other conflicts. These records include the service records of each man and tells his story during the War. A list of resources and a surname index add to the value of this work.
