This area in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties was originally part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. Significant settlement began shortly after 1800. This work consists of two major parts: the first 120 pages being records of the pioneer reunions held in 1874 and 1875, while the balance of the work consists of histories of the early settlement of the towns and townships in these two counties. The records of the reunions consist mainly of historical essays on the early settlements, so the volume is replete with biographical tidbits on early residents. The addition of an every-name index adds to the value of this work.
