The author has amassed a bounty of information about Wrights in southern Virginia. The sources for the records listed in this volume are the 1810 through 1900 censuses, Campbell County, Virginia, microfilm copies available at the National Archives Pacific Sierra Division in San Bruno, California. The 1810 census reveals the names of the heads of the families and the number of free white males and females in each household, grouped by age. "All other free persons except Indians, not taxed" makes up another category. The number of slaves is also recorded. Later censuses contained more details, such as occupations, foreigners not naturalized, and slaves grouped by age and gender. Additional data included free colored persons, pensioners for Revolutionary or military service, value of real estate and personal property, place of birth, marital status, number of children and literacy. A most helpful feature for each entry is the identification column, in which the author identifies the specific family and Wright ancestors from whom the named Wright descends.
