Dunstable was first granted by Massachusetts in 1673. When the boundary between Massachusetts and New Hampshire was finalized in 1741, a portion of this grant ended up in New Hampshire. This township encompassed all or major parts of Amherst, Milford, Brookline, Merrimac, Nashville, Hollis, Nashua, Litchfield, Londonderry, Hudson, and Pelham, New Hampshire, as well as, Townsend, Shirley, Dunstable, Groton, Tyngsborough, and Dracut, Massachusetts. The data presented here was drawn from town and church records, Middlesex County Court returns, cemetery inscriptions, and Bible and other private records.
