Also, Boundaries and Area of the State, and its Natural Resources, with over One Hundred Pages of Statistical Tables, Pertaining to its Population, Wealth, Industries, Churches, School Houses, Soldiers in the Late Rebellion, and Post Offices: with a List of State Officers, etc.: Together with a Description of its Mountains, Lakes, Rivers and Popular Resorts for Tourists, and a Great Variety of Other Useful Information

While technically a history, the author's intention was to bring "time and space into focus" to show the "present standing of the state," offering a glimpse into the present day progress of New Hampshire. While the first two chapters offer a brief journey through the past to the first settlement of New Hampshire and a brief history of the War of the Revolution, the remaining chapters describe life in New Hampshire during the 1870s. Chapter Three presents a topographical history of all the cities and towns in the state and their resources. Chapter Four provides a statistical summary of the counties and state, pertaining to their geographical position and value of their manufactories and businesses. Chapter Five concentrates on Census information in tabular form. Chapter Six details New Hampshire educational, religious and public institutions. Chapter Seven reviews the climate, scenery, geology and mineralogy of the state and offers a poem on New Hampshire. Finally Chapter Seven describes the political climate of the time. A subject and fullname index allows easy access to information.

The book is presented as graphic images, so the user sees the work just as it was originally published. It is intended to look and function very much like a "real" book. There is no electronic index, and there is no electronic text to search. However, numerous electronic bookmarks have been added which make it easy to move through the book. Image numbers will match the page numbers for all of the main text, as well as the index. Any unnumbered portraits and illustrations are at the back of the actual file, to keep page numbering consistent.
