Many of the biographical sketches are more than one page in length and contain a wealth of information about the subject and his family. These men were chosen for inclusion because of the prominent parts they played in the public, social, and industrial development of their communities. The contents of each sketch includes the subjects' personal actions and accomplishments in military service, religious societies, civic organizations, occupations, politics, and the like, as well as the vital statistics associated with the key events of birth, marriage, and death. The sketches also provide commentary on the subjects' spouses as well as the preceding and succeeding generations.
